HOTEL INFORMATION
There are a select number of rooms available at the Markree Castle for July 4th and 5th for our families and wedding parties, and we will directly coordinate with you to organize those rooms. If you are interested in staying at the Markree Castle, please do not hesitate to reach out to us. While we anticipate that we will not be able to accommodate all of our guests at the Markree Castle, we have organized a wedding block at the nearby Sligo Park Hotel that will be available from July 3rd - July 6th. TRANSPORTATION
We recognize that Markree Castle is not the easiest location to reach, especially for our American guests. We hope that we can provide as much information as possible to make your travel as smooth as possible, and we sincerely appreciate the time, energy, and resources that any travel requires.
There are daily direct flights to Dublin, Ireland from New York (JFK), Washington D.C. (IAD), Atlanta, Orlando, Dallas-Fort Worth, and other major cities. Unfortunately, we are still patiently waiting for the day that Aer Lingus or another airline opens a direct route between Houston and Dublin. Please let us know if you need any advice or recommendations at all in booking airfare.
From Dublin, you may elect to rent a car or ride one of the daily regional train or coach services.
If you choose to rent a car, we recommend you utilize the services of Paul Heffernan at Avis Budget Car Rental at the Dublin Airport. Paul is a close family friend, and we utilize his services on our trips to Ireland. Paul has kindly offered to personally assist our guests with booking, and we could not recommend the experience more.

be sure to mention that you are traveling for the Bates-Hennessy wedding. If you choose to make the drive up to Sligo, we hope you reach out to us for recommendations of things to do on the way to make the most out of your trip.
For those that elect another form of transportation, you can arrange travel to Sligo via train or coach.
If you choose to take the train, you should arrange a short taxi service to Dublin Connolly Rail Station and purchase a ticket to Sligo (MacDiarmada). The entire duration of the trip should be under 3 hours 30 minutes.
If you choose to take the coach, you may do so by purchasing a ticket for the Expressway Route 23 from Dublin Airport to Sligo (Bus Station). The entire duration of the trip should be under 4 hours.
If you are flying in from another location in Europe or hoping to extend your trip to another European destination after the wedding, you may look to see if the regional airport closest to Markree Castle, Ireland West Airport (NOC), may be convenient for your travel plans. You can fly in and out of Knock to destinations like London, Tenerife, Cologne, Barcelona, Edinburgh, Malaga, Mallorca, Milan, and Rome.
